Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge

Project Background: Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge is the longest cross-sea bridge in the world. It starts from Zhengjiadai, Haiyan, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province in the north and spreads to Shuiluwan, Cixi, Ningbo in the south, with a length of 36 km. It was approved by the SDPC in 2002. Construction work began on June 8, 2003 and the bridge was opened to the public on May 1, 2008. The total investment of the bridge is estimated to be more than CNY16 billion, among which, the 36km bridge is CNY11.8 billion, the 29.1km north connection line CNY1.7 billion and the 55.3km south connection line CNY3.4 billion. Hangzhou Bay is located in Yangtze River Delta, the most dynamic and developed region in China in terms of economy, opening-up and reform. The construction of the Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge is of far-reaching and strategic significance to the economic and social development of the whole region.
